While summer weather provides respite from cold and rain, it comes with a different set of challenges for people who live out in the elements day and night. People experiencing homelessness in the extreme heat of summer often spend entire days outside in direct sunlight and are at high risk for dehydration and other health complications. Humanitarian Action Network continues to meet basic human needs of the unsheltered homeless through the summer care package project. We are pleased to announce that with the help of our donors we were able to create and distribute 48 care packages on July 27, 2019, marking our first annual Summer Homeless Care Package Project. We are doubling our 2019 efforts with a goal of 96 care packages for 2020. We will have several fundraising events to help us achieve this goal, and our 2nd Annual Summer Care Package Project Assembly event will be held on Saturday, June 27th at SacYard. Please visit the events area on our homepage for more information.
