The founders of Humanitarian Action Network (HAN) believe that everyone should have access to bathrooms in order to eliminate waste with privacy and dignity, regardless of housing status. Additionally, untreated human waste in the environment is a major public health concern. For these reasons, HAN made providing porta potties to people experiencing homelessness in Sacramento a priority by launching the Porta Potty Project in January 2020.
Did you know that one porta potty that is serviced twice weekly keeps 400 gallons of untreated human waste off the streets and out of rivers and parks every month? As of July 2021, Humanitarian Action Network's Porta Potty Project has kept 22,900 gallons of untreated human waste out of the environment. To get an idea of the impact of this project, an average home swimming pool holds 10,800 gallons.
By supporting the Porta Potty Project, you are helping to restore human dignity, safe guard public health, and protect the environment. The Porta Potty Project is a win-win-win, and is funded entirely by donations.
