The porta potty project

Humanitarian Action Network started the Porta Potty Project in January 2020 to provide porta potties to people experiencing homelessness in the communities we serve. Everyone should have access to a bathroom. It’s the right thing to do for people, and it’s the right thing to do for the environment. As of December 2022, our Porta Potty Project had kept 56,900 gallons of untreated human waste out of the environment, and has continued to properly dispose of an additional 2,000 gallons of waste each month since then (we stopped counting). To get an idea of the impact of this project, an average home swimming pool holds 10,800 gallons.
